  1. Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else is having a few of the same issues as I am doing the 6-2 lab.
Here are a few of my problems.

My name plate is set up with wave 2, old english font size 60 as specified, however does not fill in the margins as illustrated on page wd458.

My colums are set up in three and spaced as instructed however the appearance again does not look like pg wd458.

My word art also does not look like the illustration either. I have the colors/styles correct but the text in the lower portion of the boxes does not flow as shown in the example.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

  2. I am having some of the same issues with the word art and smart art text boxes. I can't get them to stay the right size.

Now in consideration to the columns what I did was copy the article from the MS data file and paste onto my lab file. Then I selected it all and arranged it with the 3 column option. Making sure the subheadings are with the proper stye. That section seems fine.

  3. Derek,

At the bottom of pg WD 392 to 393 it talks about resizing using the resizing handles. This will help with your nameplate.

What is different about the appearance of your columns?

I think there is an error in the text in regards to how to format the Word Art. The book says "shape outline color", but it depicts the "shape fill color" so this will have to be the professor's descretion as to how she chooses to grade it.

Let me know how this works for you.

  4. I was wondering about the "shape outline color" also. What I did was change the outline as directed but kept the fill as automatic, black for now.

I know that the instructions state... Shrink to Fit. would that help anyone with fitting this to one page.

  5. I had one problem with the nameplate top border. After I saved the document and reopened the document, the top border disappeared. I did end up fixing it by starting the nameplate a little lower. However, I thought I did follow the direction before I did the fix and I don't know why it disappeared. I thought maybe it had something to do with the header section?

I did the same as Kristin for the shape outline color.

  6. How's is everyone doing with the lab. I don't like having to download fonts almost all the time. This Lab seemed easier than others so I hope to get a good grade.

I learned a lot more than I thought with word. I thought I knew alot allready but I learned easier ways of doing steps.

  8. My lab is finally complete... the smart art graphic I am found to be a little bothersome to format but after taking a break & retrying it I realized my mistake.

How is everyone else doing with the lab?

  9. Sacha,
Same as you with the lab. The smart art was hard to resize perfectly enough to fit to page and look good. Had to keep trying.

  10. Hi Sacha,
I found the lab to have some time-consuming issues! However, I am learning a lot. I have tried to use what I learn in this class and apply it to assignments in other classes and at work.

  11. Hi Kristin,
I haven't been downloading fonts. I have chosen something similar and have included the font name in my homework assignment email. I really don't know why I don't have all these fonts. Wendy

  12. I had similar issues with my columns. Did anyone else have difficulty with the my colums and how they were set up in three columns. I also tried to make sure they were spaced as instructed but they did not look like the example. I also had similar issues arranging the smart art like Kristin did. I had an issue of that I could not find the exact color to make the "S", look like it was supposed too. I hope everyone did well on this assignment. Have a good day

  13. Krystel,

Thanks for help. I looked over pages 392-393 and learned how to resize but my concern is that the direction in the lab state to set the font at 60 and does not tell us to resize the the name plate. If I do that then the font sizes change. I guess its really just a matter of direction interpretation.

  14. Hi I am having problems with moving the Sports events up a space. Does anyone know how to do that? Because for some reason I have to skip a whole new line to start it.. It won't let me put it in the same line as when I put "Spring soon will make", and "This year, attendees are"

  15. Hi, I am know I am late but I am struggling with getting things completed. I am wondering if there is any advise for the height and width of the smart art on the page?

  16. I had trouble with this assignment similar to others. The text in the columns were not even, and no matter what I did I couldn't fix it. It seems I get easily frustrated with these labs especially with page breaks. The concepts and instructions are straight forward and easy to understand, yet something gets lost on the way to the program, but its probably just me. I also forgot to post to this blog in time.

  17. I forgot to blog about this week on time also, but in reading the posts now I am glad I'm not the only one having a bit of a hard time keeping up. Between working fulltime, a baby at and the other classes I'm taking, I think I put a little too much on my plate. So, in an effort to better manage my time, I think I'll read any blogs posted prior to submitting the labs. This way I'll know of any issues before hand. It might be helpful to those who are also running a bit behind.
